aula is an Australian author, award-winning filmmaker, and sometimes journalist.Â
Her stories usually contain flawed female characters that don’t always get it right, but give it a crack anyway.
Her debut mystery/thriller ORIGINAL TWIN was bought in a six figure deal from Thomas and Mercer and is coming out 28 May 2024.
Her young adult manuscript, FINDING SNOW, was selected for the mentor program YA4YA with mentor Jessica Conoley. It is Outlander meets Snow White and tells the story of an isolated Australian country girl who is thrust back in time where she meets the real-life inspiration for the Brother’s Grimm tale: Snow White.
She has also completed three other manuscripts: PENELOPE’S DAILY HOROSCOPE – about a teen who can only get through her day by following her daily horoscope, MIXTAPE MURDER – about a teen who hears a cry for help on the mixtape stuck in her beat-up car, and a middle- grade novel WHEN HOMEWORK COMES ALIVE – about a girl who tries to help her depressed, book-loving sister by inviting dead literary figures over for dinner.
Her Olympic documentary A Sporting Chance won the highest honour at the Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs (FICTS) Festival in Milan. She also filmed various missions in conflict countries around the world for a project on the United Nations and has managed the media and sponsorship for select Australian Taekwondo Olympic athletes over four Olympic cycles.
Beyond this, she has written articles for both print and online publications. Her controversial article for national magazine Inside Sport was nominated for an Australian Sporting Commission journalist award for best print coverage by an individual. She is also a mentor for Round Table Mentor, Round 9 of Author Mentor Match and for Write Team Mentor Program.
She can often be found in her pyjamas, drinking tea (wine), and watching horror movies snuggled between her doggo and a big cheese pizza.
